About CAT

Our Mission:

Founded in October 1992, the Center for Appropriate Transport is a non-profit organization that is committed to community involvement in manufacturing, using, and advocating sustainable modes of transportation.

Under the direction of Jan VanderTuin and the CAT board, our dedicated employees and volunteers have helped to create a environment promoting healthy lifestyles, alternative education, decentralized production, and community interaction. All staff within CAT are paid equally, and numerous volunteers, members, and donors help to achieve our mission. We emphasize cross training for all staff and have open books.
