Eugene/Springfield's many outdoor events aren't complete without a group
of youth from CAT parking bicycles for spectators. Valet Bicycle Parking
provides a great service to event-goers who want to guarantee the security
of their bikes, and provides youth with an opportunity to work together
as a team in a public and professional setting.
The CAT Resource Library provides an extensive collection of noncirculating
periodicals, books, DVDs and videos on the subject of appropriate transportion.
The Library is open to the public.
We can give tours of our facility to interested groups. Contact
us for details if you are interested in coming by to see what
we do. We are also available for off-site presentations on appropriate
transportation. School groups are welcome!
CAT provides office space for Skinner
City Farm, a community garden project
located two blocks north of our building. We incorporate the garden
into our educational offerings for youth, involving them in planning,
maintaining, harvesting and preserving the food produced there.
CAT is a drop-off point for two community supported agriculture (CSA)
projects: Full Circle Community Farm and Nettle's Edge Farm; as well
as Fern's Edge Goat Dairy.
New for Fall 2007, Trips For Kids-CAT (TFK-CAT) is a partnership between
Trips for Kids (www.tripsforkids.org)
and the Center for Appropriate Transport. TFK-CAT
will provide mountain bike activities and environmental education to
local teens that might
otherwise not experience such activities. Check out our information
page to learn more.
CAT is a community project, and to grow, it needs the help of local families
and businesses. Here's what you can do for CAT:
- Become a member
- Help out with our office or shop activities
- Help sponsor youth with scholarships
- Subscribe to Oregon Cycling Magazine
- Donate usable bikes, parts, helmets, or office equipment
