Bike Maintenance
Fix Up Your Bike!
We will focus on student’s bikes as we cover the basics of maintenance. You will get exposed to the diversity of human powered vehicles by the bikes brought to the class and by our rideable museum. You will gain a broad understanding of many types of frames and components.

Our professional mechanic staff will analyze each bicycle individually. Instruction will be based on getting your bike up to speed and give you the expertise to maintain your bicycle in the future. During the class enjoy a great discount on new parts for your favorite ride!

We have 3 consecutive sessions in Eugene Bicycle Works. There is a maximum of 5 students per class, so register early!

Instructor Biography:
Kevin will be teaching this class. Kevin is known for his in depth knowledge of bicycles. He has been studying Bicycle Mechanics since he first got on a bike. Kevin has years of hands on experience including experience with our very own HPM product line.


Sewing Class
Learn to Sew!
Take advantage of the Human Powered Machines industrial sewing shop with instruction from our own professional seamstress. We have a two-part series of classes, each with 3 consecutive sessions. There is a maximum of 3 students per session for the intermediate class, and 5 students for the beginner.

Learn basic sewing skills and make a drawstring bag to take home! Bags are made from all organic materials, and are great for carrying veggies around.



Intermediate

Upon completion of the beginner course, learn how to use an industrial sewing machine and serger. Sew a waxed canvas roll-top backpack to take home!

Instructor Biography:
Glynn Sidney will be instructing this class. She is a talented seamstress and has been working at CAT making bicycle rain gear and regularly teaching classes and apprentices the craft of sewing.


Wheel Building Class

Learn how to build wheels! We will provide a loaner wheel for your first time and you are welcome to bring your bike in for truing and tensioning. During the class receive a 10% discount on parts to build your dream wheelset in the Eugene Bicycle Works!

Instructor Biography:
Miguel Gothers-Reyes is instructing this class. He has worked as a mechanic at Bikes Not Bombs in Boston, finished the cargo bike frame building apprenticeship program at CAT, and has professionally built wheels at Rolf Prima.
